Sponsored by the Lester and Sue Smith Foundation, only 30 finalists from breast cancer organizations around the country were selected to compete in the Pink Well Challenge for a chance to earn a portion of up to a $1 million in matching grants!

Our goal is to raise $45,000 by May 15, 2012. The Smith's foundation will generously match all donations we receive - dollar for dollar.

Of the 30 finalists, the organization that raises the most money will be awarded another $50,000. So every dollar you give has the potential to triple your impact in the fight against cancer! $50 can become $150! Please make a donation today to support our mission.

As a finalist, Friends of Mel was required to create a video that tells our story. Our job is to get out the vote each day January 16 through May 15, 2012. Skating Strides Youth Clinic

Our thanks to the University of Connecticut women's ice hockey team! It was heartwarming to watch the team training girls and boys betweeen the ages of 8 & 12 January 16th at the Freitas Ice Forum. All proceeds from this event have been donated to our organization to help us in our fight against breast cancer. Coach Linstad, her team, kids and parents alike had a great day while raising $2,500 for the Friends of Mel Foundation.

Hockey East SKATING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER
